2009 Wimbledon Results: Federer beats Roddick in Men's Final

The 2009 Wimbledon Results are in for the Men's Finals and the action on center court did not disappoint today. Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick 7-5, 6-7, 6-7, 6-3, 14-16 to win his 15th Grand Slam Title, surpassing tennis great Pete Sampras for the most Singles Titles in History. The Roddick vs Federer 2009 Wimbledon Men’s Final match holds the all time record for the the most games in the 5th set and the match broke the record for total games every played in a Grand Slam.

Roger Federer, a 5-time Wimbledon champion, was looking to become the first tennis player ever to win 15 Grand Slam titles. Prior to the 2009 Wimbledon Final, Roddick was just 2-18 all time against Federer heading into the Wimbledon Finals.

The improbable Andy Roddick crushed the dreams of many British tennis faithful on Friday to make the Men's 2009 Wimbledon Finals when he defeated Andy Murray in the Semi Finals 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5). Federer’s defeated 24th seeded Tommy Haas in straight sets 7-6, 7-5, 6-3 for his Semi Finals match to reach the Finals.

In other 2009 Wimbledon Results action, Serena Williams won her 3rd Wimbledon Women’s Title at the All England Club by beating her sister Venus Williams in straight sets 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. The match was over in 87 minutes. The Williams Sisters won another Women's Doubles Title 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 against the Australian pairing of Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs. The Men's Doubles had defending champions Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor defeating top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
