Janet Jackson on Michael Jackson at the BET Awards 2009
BET Awards 2009 was a musical tribute to Michael Jackson and his great music. Everyone expected this. Many celebrities spoke kindly on Michael Jackson’s life. Some of them were sincere and some of them said something they don’t really think of Michael Jackson and his music career. But everyone wanted to hear Janet Jackson.
Many stars commented on Michael Jackson’s style; unique leather jackets, white T-shirts, black shoes, and white socks.
Jamie Fox made one of the most interesting comments. He said, "We want to celebrate this black man. He belongs to us, and we shared him with everybody else." This way Jamie Fox put focus on Michael Jackson’s racial identity. Many argued that he had no right to do that. This was because Michael Jackson always contributed to racial equality.
But everyone wanted to hear what Janet Jackson had to say on Michael Jackson. Janet Jackson at the BET Awards 2009 said on Michael Jackson:
“My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family and he will forever live in our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself thank you for your love and support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”
Before saying these words on her brother Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson had to take a bit of time to gather herself.
After Janet Jackson left the stage, Fox and Ne-Yo closed the BET Awards 2009 with the Jackson 5’s song “I’ll Be There.”
There is a rumor that Janet Jackson apparently also said that Michael Jackson will live forever in her heart and that she misses him so much.
No doubt that everyone at BET Awards 2009 was thinking of Michael Jackson. But most of all, they wanted to hear from his sister Janet Jackson. Many even doubted that Janet Jackson will even appear, and when she did, it came as a surprise for many who were present at BET Awards 2009.
