Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today confirmed that 13 of the 22 competitors who were tested for illegal/banned substances after competing at UFC 100 have all passed with flying colors.
UFC main event participants Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir, as well as Georges St. Pierre and Thiago
Alves, joined a line up of fighters that included Shannon Gugerty, Jon Fitch, Dan Henderson, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Mark Coleman, Tom Lawlor, Jon Jones, Dong Hyun Kim and Jim Miller, who were all screened for performance enhancers such as steroids and drugs of abuse like cocaine and marijuana, among others.
Results from these battery of tests all returned negative.
The fighters mentioned above were randomly selected. However, athletic commissions typically test the main event participants and fight night winners, as well as those who have failed tests in the past.
The UFC dished out $1,790,000 in fighter salaries for the pay-per-view (PPV) event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Nevada and another $400,000 in additional bonus money for the four participants who delivered outstanding performances.
Brock Lesnar unified the UFC Heavyweight Championship with a second round mutilation of Frank Mir in the UFC 100 main event. Current Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre solidified his place among the pound-for-pound best with a dominating five round victory over Thiago Alves in the co-featured fight of the night.
And who could forget Dan Henderson’s knockout of the night (and perhaps century) when he air-mailed Michael Bisping back to the UK with a crushing overhand right. In fact, Bisping should arrive in Liverpool sometime around the middle of next week.
