A Real American Parody: ‘The Ballad of G.I. Joe’

At this point, observing that FunnyOrDie.com produces clever videos is like saying that the cell phone is a useful communication device, but sometimes the comedy Web site really knows our sweet spot. If you were put off lately by the relentless trailers for “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” and their high-octane Kid Rock soundtrack, but still want to indulge your nostalgia for 1980s action figures, “The Ballad of G.I. Joe” by Daniel Strange and Kevin Umbricht may be more your speed. It’s a low-key guitar jam that imagines what the G.I. Joe team and its Cobra enemies might do in the after hours — and it features a celebrity cast that’s as impressive as the “G.I. Joe” movie. Make sure you stick around to see Destro and the Baroness practicing their clarinets.
