The Second Annual Wheatland Supercross took place on July 4 at the Platte County Fairgrounds, hosting nearly 100 riders from Wyoming and other states. The races were hosted by the Wheatland Motocross Association.

Dallas Mount, Vice President of the Wheatland Motocross Association and one of the event’s organizers, said the event was a success, and there was a good turnout in both the races and the audience.

Excitement for the main event included a big win for Colorado racer Mike Henderson, who took the Triple Crown prize. To win, Henderson had to win all three of the Pro-A races and the Open Outlaw race, as well as all three hold shots for the A races. Mount said it was highly unlikely that a racer can accomplish this.

On Sunday, the racing track was opened to the public, and Mount said this was a good opportunity for interested individuals to get introduced to the sport.

The Motocross Association is also in the process of building a permanent track in Wheatland, which should be completed in September, Mount said, and profits made at the event will go toward this project.
